Biography:

My Bachelor’s Degree is in Electrical Engineering, an applied mathematics. I began teaching in 2007 on an Emergency Certificate. After receiving my Master of Education in Secondary Mathematics, I began teaching in 9th Grade Algebra 1. After moving to Virginia (to strike out on my own!), I began teaching 9th – 11th Grade Mathematics (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, & Honors Pre-Calculus). I moved home to Sylacauga in 2015 when my dad became very sick and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I helped take care of him and worked on my Education Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership online through the University of North Alabama. In 2017, I interviewed with an amazing lady who said at the end of my interview that she was willing to take a chance with me as long as I was not going to quit due to the over 1 hour drive from Sylacauga each day. This teaching position has not only allowed me to teach and learn from some amazing kids (all of whom I call “my babies”), but also find an amazing family in the faculty and staff. Our math department is a true family and has been a blessing in my life as I have been navigating life without my father, who was my best friend. Teachers here at Millbrook Middle School truly care about not only the students, but also each other. Currently, I am in the process of restoring my 1837 house that I just purchased in Wetumpka to move my mother in with me - now that she has been diagnosed with a form of Parkinson's (PSP - Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). I have two nephews that live with my brother and sister-in-law in Metairie, LA.
